Italy's cash budget deficit dropped by nearly 15 billion euros in the
first six months of 2012, the Italian Treasury said late Monday,
citing preliminary figures.
The Treasury said that the sector-state budget requirement, or SSBR--a
cash-based measure of the budget deficit--fell to EUR29.1 billion in
the first half of the year from EUR43.9 billion a year earlier.
Italy's SSBR in June registered a surplus of EUR5.8 billion, up from a
EUR1 billion surplus in June of 2011, the Treasury added.
