2012.05.09 17:40:35 MARKET TALK: USD/CAD Volume Up As USD Threatens To Break Higher

11:40 (Dow Jones) Volumes in USD/CAD surge, with EBS data showing activity in the pair in the last 20 minutes at a whopping 446% of the average for the same period for the last 30 days, the highest of the major pairs so far today. USD's brief foray above the top of its trading range at 1.0050 has definitely piqued interest in a pair that's been range-bound since Jan. This story's still without an ending, though as USD has slumped back into the 1.0020s after peaking at 1.0064, according to CQG. Analysts say a close over the 1.0050 area will help cement the so-called Big Dollar's upward trend against its medium-sized northern cousin.
