9:43 EDT - Peru's sol is expected to end the year at PEN2.60 per U.S.
dollar, Barclays said. The sol ended Tuesday at PEN2.638 per dollar, a
4.45% appreciation in the last 12 months. Barclays says that global
uncertainty gives Peru's central bank more room to increase its policy
rate, now at 4.25%, with less pressure on the foreign exchange front.
"Given the signs of a reactivation of economic activity, we think that
the Central Reserve Bank of Peru would need to hike rates by 75 basis
points before year-end in order to return inflation to the target
range next year." (robert.kozak@dowjones.com)
