Bell Canada, the operating unit of BCE Inc. (BCE), raised 1 billion
Canadian dollars (US$974 million), or at the high end of the targeted
range, from an issue of seven-year bonds, according to people familiar
with the matter.
The issue was priced at 185 basis points over the relevant Government
of Canada benchmark curve to yield 3.376%. The bonds carry a coupon of
3.35%.
Bell Canada, Canada's largest telecommunications company, is expected
to use the proceeds to help fund its share of the acquisition of Maple
